You must have internet, PC or laptop with a webcam and microphone. In order to take the POST Testing you will need to follow the instructions below:
Our Assessment Center offers a board range of services, such as career testing, online exams and computer certification testing including these specific exams and tests:
ACCUPLACER is a placement test offered by the College Board. It is similar to COMPASS in that it is not timed; it is adaptive; it will test a student’s skills in reading, writing and math; and its answers are multiple-choice. Test are not timed, but allow at least 2.5 hours to complete the exam. Hand-held calculators are not permitted.
The tests sections are are:
Reading – 20 multiple-choice questions
The test measures your ability to derive meaning from a range of texts and to determine the meaning of words and phrases in short and extended contexts. Categories include Information & Ideas, Rhetoric, Synthesis and Vocabulary.
Writing – 25 multiple-choice questions
The test measures your ability to revise and edit multi-paragraph text for effective expression of ideas and Standard English conventions such as punctuation.
Arithmetic – 20 multiple-choice questions
The test focuses on computation, order of operations, estimation, comparing values in different formats and recognizing equivalent values. 4-function calculator available for some questions.
Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics (QAS) – 20 multiple-choice questions
The test measures your ability to perform selected mathematical concepts focusing on computational fluency, applications and conceptual understanding. This includes Linear Applications & Graphs, Factoring, Functions, Polynomial Equations, Exponential & Logarithmic Equations and Trigonometry. 4-function and square root calculator available for some questions.
This is a computer adaptive test. The test questions are multiple choice and chosen for you on the basis of your answers to previous questions. Hand held calculators are not allowed in the Math part of the test. The score range is 200 – 300. Final scores are based on the number of questions answered correctly and the difficulty level of the questions answered correctly.
Students who obtain a score indicating college readiness can move immediately into their chosen curriculum. Those needing additional help will be offered learning support to gain the skills necessary to be college ready.
